Government Documents Depository LibraryThis library is a Congressionally designated depository for U.S. Government Documents. Public access to the government documents collection is guaranteed by public law. (Title 44 United States Code)

Government Documents Department

The Government Documents department is located on the third floor of Axe Library. The Library is one of many depository libraries and holds U.S. Government and Kansas State documents, and we also receive additional documents from Missouri, Oklahoma and international sources. The Documents collection contains over 500,000 items, including books, periodicals, maps, charts and posters; the majority of the collection is made up of reports, studies and hearings published by the various agencies of government at state, federal and international levels. All subjects are covered from the physical sciences to the social sciences and the humanities.

Feel free to ask the Documents Librarian for assistance with any part of the collection. Most Government Documents can be checked out at the Circulation Desk in the same manner as other Library materials, however a portion of the collection is designated as Documents Reference. These items cannot be checked out, but may be used in the Library. They include indexes & abstracts and other high use sources.
