Associations and Societies

  • American Chemical Society (ACS) - is a self-governed individual membership organization that consists of more than 158,000 members at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry. The organization provides a broad range of opportunities for peer interaction and career development, regardless of professional or scientific interests. The programs and activities conducted by ACS today are the products of a tradition of excellence in meeting member needs that dates from the Society's founding in 1876.
    • Green Chemistry Institute - part of the ACS, the Green Chemistry Institute's goal is to "prevent pollution through chemistry research and education."
  • Association of Consulting Chemists and Chemical Engineers - is a non-profit membership organization serving the chemical consulting needs of prospective clients and its members since 1928.
  • Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) - the RSC is the largest organisation in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences.

    • Google Scholar Advanced Search allows limiting searches to "Chemistry and Materials Science". Axe Library's "Article Linker" allows you to go from Google Scholar results to the full text of an article in many cases.
    • National Digital Science Library (NDSL) - Digital library of 342 digital resources covering science, engineering, mathematics, and technology. Compendium of great variety of materials and for grade levels k-12, college, and postgraduate. Many sources aimed at educators. Ranges from an e-print archive, to full text journals, to abstracts of journal articles, to web sites. Provides alphabetical browsing.; a "Search" which will poll many search engines for science related materials and "NDSL at a Glance" for an interactive layout of all broad topics.
    • Scirus: for scientific information only - Scirus searches over 200 million science-specific Web pages. Also offers a Scirus Advanced Search option that may be limited to searching in "Chemistry and Chemical Engineering".
