Government Documents

The Government Documents department is located on the third floor of Axe Library. The Library is one of many depository libraries and holds U.S. Government and Kansas State documents. The Documents collection contains books, periodicals, maps, charts and posters; the majority of the collection is made up of reports, studies and hearings published by the various agencies of government at state, federal and international levels. All subjects are covered from the physical sciences to the social sciences and the humanities. If you have questions or need assistance with any part of the collection during regular business hours, staff may be available on the third floor in the Government Documents Technical Services office. If staff is not available on the third floor, you can always consult with the Reference Librarian on the first floor, or use the chat box on this page to connect virtually. Most Government Documents can be checked out at the Circulation Desk in the same manner as other Library materials; however a portion of the collection is non-circulating. These items cannot be checked out, but may be used in the Library. They include indexes & abstracts and other high use sources.
