The Learning Outreach Department engages in activities and partnerships to connect with the PSU community. A history of partnerships with campus partners and student organizations helps spread our word about Library services and spaces.
The Learning Outreach Department works with students and faculty to promote their art, creative works, or club activities in the library space.
During the Axe Library session of New Faculty Orientation, new faculty learn about available resources and meet library liaisons. Liaisons can help with everything from requesting resources, to providing class instruction sessions, to helping faculty with their own research process.
Academic departments and faculty are encouraged to contact Jorge Leon and Ruth Monnier in the Learning Outreach Department if they want to collaborate on a joint project. Projects can range in scope and audiences. Some previous projects have included speaker series, displaying class assignments in the library, and helping co-sponsor events.
Throughout the year, Axe Library will host a number of activities and events meant to engage users and help them discover services available through the library.
At the beginning of the Fall Semester, Axe Library and its Learning Commons' partners host a Luau themed resource fair. Come get to know the library resources in a fun environment with food and music!
Throughout the year, Library Services hosts events and book displays in Axe Library and KTC Library. During exam time, the library has programming to accompany extended hours. Library Services provides snacks, beverages, and programming during late night exam hours.
If you are interested in promoting some of your work, or your clubs’ work, at the library please contact Jorge Leon jleon@pittstate.edu / 620.235.4892 or Ruth Monnier rmonnier@pittstate.edu / 620.235.4885. We strongly encourage students to promote their creations in the library and to help shape the library space!
